If you have clients who had trouble enrolling for coverage through the FFM – this information is for you!
The law and regulations provide for Special Enrollment Periods (SEP's), triggered
• The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will provide an SEP to consumers who:
• Currently are not enrolled in coverage through the FFM
• Have not been terminated from coverage through the FFM during the 2015 Open Enrollment Period
Attest that they attempted to enroll during the annual OEP but did not complete the process by Feburary15, 2015 because they experienced a technical issue using HealthCare.gov
NOTE: Someone does NOT need to have started any application process to be eligible for enrollment during the SEP. They simply need to “ATTEST” they tried and were unable to enroll because of a long wait on the phone or a technology glitch prevented them from doing so.
The SEP will start on February 16, 2015 and end on February 22, 2015. Enrollments completed during the SEP will have an effective date of March 1, 2015.
