Friday Health Plans To Consider Pulling Out Off-Exchange Market In Texas

A few weeks ago, Friday Health Plans announced they would not be selling on-exchange in Texas. At that time, they were also considering whether or not to sell off-exchange health plans. Since the off-exchange market is a very small percent of our membership, they have decided it would be prudent to redirect our resources to other states and pause all health plan sales, on and off-exchange, in Texas for 2023.

Friday Health Plans is in discussions with the Texas Division of Insurance about when they will re-enter Texas, as they do intend to sell there in the future. Not selling in Texas in 2023 allows the carrier to manage their capital more efficiently and maintain their high level of service to members and brokers. Friday Health Plans truly appreciates all of you who partnered with them these past two years to bring their plans to so many members in Texas.

They are still selling both on and off-exchange in Colorado, Georgia, North Carolina, Nevada, and Oklahoma. 2022 was a record-setting year for ACA enrollment, and the ACA market is predicted to be even more robust this coming year. More people will be coming into the market due to the extension of the expanded subsidies through 2025, the family glitch fix, Medicare redetermination, and the low-income SEP continuing. Friday Health Plans looks forward to continuing our partnership with many of you as you sell plans in these five states.

They are committed to paying commissions on active members through the rest of 2022.
