MassMutual Ascend Talks Best Interest Standard in Kansas, Oregon, and Washington

Important developments are underway - hear the news from MassMutal Ascend: the Best Interest Standard is coming to multiple states!

The following states have recently adopted the new National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Best Interest Standard:

Kansas, on January 1, 2024
Oregon, on January 1, 2024
Washington, on January 1, 2024

If you are in one of these states, please take prompt action to comply with this new update!

Producers in these states who completed a four-credit training course before the specified effective date must now choose one of the two following options within six months of the effective date:

• An updated four-credit training course, which replaced the previous version and adds in information about the new standards and requirements
• A condensed, one-credit training that covers the new standards and requirements.

Producers who did not complete a four-credit training course before the effective date must do so prior to their first sale. It is vital that you stay up to date and compliant when you work with your clients!

As a reminder, a new state-required disclosure form is now available to help producers describe the nature of their relationship with their client. The disclosure form is now mandatory, and must be included with all commissionable and fee-based sales.
